The Third Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War is one of the most important international treaties of international humanitarian law. The Covenant establishes a set of values and principles for the rights and treatment of prisoners of war and imposes an obligation on states to comply with and respect their prisoners of war in the event of armed conflict.
