The KCIL and the Kurdistan Parliamentary Research Center discussed joint steps

On June 2, 2024, KCIL held a session with the Kurdistan Parliamentary Research Center to further pave the way and advance the initiatives that were jointly planned to continue knowledge sharing between KCIL and the Parliamentary Research Center. This collaboration is within the framework of the "Justice Resilience Initiative in the KRI," supported by the German Federal Foreign Office’s fund through IFA (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen), Funding Programme Zivik.
The KCIL team expressed its appreciation to the director of the center, Dr. Fuad Ahmad, and his team for their continuous efforts for the Kurdistan Parliament despite the suspension of parliamentary work. Among the topics discussed during the session were the workplan and support trajectory for 2024-2025, which includes preparing a legislative guideline and conducting workshops for parliamentarians and parliamentary advisors to familiarize them with mechanisms of fair trials in preventing crises and tensions.
Another topic of discussion was the draft "Anti-Discrimination Law in the Kurdistan Region," prepared by the KCIL expert team. This draft law will be submitted to the Kurdistan Parliament after the elections as a unique bill to combat discrimination within Kurdish society. Both the Parliamentary Research Center and the KCIL endorsed the plan to work shoulder to shoulder in the coming period to advance justice in the KRI.
