In this lecture, Dr Anni Pues discusses the actors and pathways to international criminal justice. She highlights the responsibility of domestic states in prosecuting international crimes. For this, legislation is needed as well as legal training and education. Drawing on her research on universal jurisdiction in Germany, she also highlights how justice actors go beyond the state. Civil society, for example, can play a pivotal role in ensuring accountability. Overall, Dr Pues provides an insightful account of the range of actors and institutions in international criminal law that can facilitate pathways to justice in diverse ways.
