In a new
attempt to familiarize law students at Halabja University with the judicial
investigation file of the defendant (Hasna. A), as the first Dutch file related
to crimes committed against Yazidis by the heinous ISIS terrorists, the KCIL,
in collaboration with the Yazidi Legal Network, the Nuhanovic Foundation, and
the Deanship of the College of Law and Administration at Halabja University,
broadcasted a livestream of the trail hearings to law students at Halabja
University on October 16, 17, and 18, 2024.
The need
for this coverage of this judicial process stems from the desire for Halabja
University College students to view, with a broader perspective, the judicial
process that western countries conduct regarding international crimes, the
punishment of ISIS criminals, and the restoration of justice for victims. It is worth noting that the judicial process and opening
of the investigation file for (Hasna A.), who is accused of enslaving two
Yazidi women and membership in the terrorist organization ISIS, is taking place
in the Schiphol Judicial Building. Moreover, the KCIL, in coordination with the
Yazidi Law Network, will continue to disseminate the latest updates regarding
the progress of the case and provide information in Kurdish language.
Alongside
this new initiative, the KCIL plans in 2024 to familiarize Halabja University
student through lectures on international criminal law and judicial processes
in international courts, as part of an effort to strengthen the scientific
capabilities of the students and enhance their role within the KRI the courts.
