On 24 April,2025, Erbil,In presence of Mr.Adriaan IJsselstein,Netherlands Consul General,Mrs.Ciska de Veld, Second Secretary, Kavien’s Justice Foundation representatives. at the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Erbil. The KCIL team was delighted to beign a part at an enriching meeting with Simon Minks, the Netherlands’ National Coordinating Advocate-General for counter-terrorism, extremism, and international crimes. At the onset of the meeting, Mr. S.A. Minks highlighted his endeavours in a long procession to prosecuting international crimes, collaborating with the Kurdistan region of Iraq (KRI) legal stakeholders in enshrining of international criminal perspectives in prosecution of core crimes and kurdish genocide. Respectively, the KCIL team outlined its initiatives in domestication of international criminal law in the KRI, drafting laws regarding combating international crimes in the KRI, Anti-discrimination, and oversight on the legal context of Iraqi and the KRI judicial systems in countering terorism and evidence collection. In response, Mr. S.A. Minks represented his perspectives on the Iraqi and the KRI judicial system in countering international crimes, emphasizing bilateral ties to advancing judicial pathways for ending impunity and access to justice to all the victims of international crimes in Iraq and European countries. Thus, Mr.Adriaan IJsselstein showed his views and support to strengthen cooperation levels and disseminating insights in undertaking measures to deepen the understanding Judicial challenges and draw on mutual experiences between the KRI and Dutch legal institutions.
