An Introduction to the International courts of justice (ICJ)

 principal judicial organ of the United Nations (UN).was established in 1945. Articles 92-96 of the UN Charter describe the activities of the Court. The court is located in The Hague, Netherlands, at the Peace Building. According to Article 36 of the Rules of Procedure of the International Court of Justice (States must agree to settle their disputes before the Court), the Court issues two types of decisions (judicial and advisory). In international law, the International Court of Justice plays an important role in resolving cases of genocide and in many cases its decisions have had an impact on ending the commission of these crimes by states.
According to the Professor Rosalyn Higgins's words, “the International Court of Justice is the lighthouse of international law” because of its good and impartial role in resolving international problems is now well known and appreciated among individuals and the media.
