The Kurdistan Region of Iraq, based on its given area, location, and history, stands as a multi-religious region where numerous religions and beliefs have coexisted and continue to do so, the relationships between these religions are often complex, sometimes leading to clashes and conflicts, each religion in the region possesses unique characteristics. The Kurdistan Center for International Law (KCIL) in cooperation with Stefanus Alliance International (SAI) is dedicated to promoting freedom of religion and belief in the Kurdistan Region, to support this mission, the KCIL prepared this manual, which serves as the foundation for a series of additional activities.
This manual was primarily written by two experts, with a working group established to enhance it by blending diverse perspectives. This group, composed of judges, lawyers, activists, and religious figures from various faiths, enriched the manual with their comments, opinions, and reviews. As the first manual on Freedom of Religion and Belief (FoRB) in the Kurdish language, it may have imperfections, but it marks a significant starting point for discussing these freedoms in the Kurdistan Region.
