Within the last three years, the Kurdistan Center for International Law (KCIL) has been working on a project that focused on domesticating international criminal law (ICL) in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). The objective of the project is to facilitate the enactment of legislation of criminalizing international crimes within the KRI's judicial system, the project also is providing training for judges, prosecutors, and lawyers on different aspects of international criminal law.

As part of its ongoing project, the KCIL has prepared this manual on the procedural aspects of international criminal law in Kurdish language. The manual has been developed within six months and written by three legal experts, the aim of this manual is to fill the gap that the KRI has in the field of international criminal justice.

The initiative to write a comprehensive manual on international criminal law in Kurdish serves several purposes. The manual primarily seeks to strengthen the KRI's legal framework and increase the capacity of legal experts, ensuring that members of the judicial council, prosecutors, legal advisors, and lawyers have the necessary knowledge to manage international criminal cases.

The manual will serve as a precedent for future legal manuals in the KRI, this by emphasizing the value of procedural guides on international criminal law for legal professionals, it also promotes the development of similar resources in other legal fields. This forward-looking approach ensures the continued development and strengthening of the legislative process in the KRI.
