KCIL held an Intensive training on International Criminal Justice in Germany

Kurdistan Center for International Law (KCIL) in cooperation with the German Federal Foreign Office's fund via ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) held an intensive training in Germany at Erlangen University. The training was facilitated by the International Criminal Law Research Unit Institute for Criminal Law (ICLU).

The aim of the training was for contributing to capacitate the key and central actors from members of the Kurdistan Parliament, judges form Judicial authorities, academicians form universities and representatives of minorities for familiarizing with the notion of international criminal justice. The training program provided participants with an invaluable opportunity and stimulating learning experience to acquire or deepen their knowledge of substantive and procedural aspects of international criminal law.

The lectures delved into various aspects of application of international criminal law in Federal Republic of Germany and Kosovo Special Chambers. They included the development of international criminal law, core international crimes, codification of German Code of Crimes against International Law (CCAIL), German criminal proceedings, modes of liability, victims’ rights in the criminal proceedings and established practices of the proceedings according to German Code of Crimes against International Law. The participants acquired knowledge for implementation of international criminal law on the basis of German and Kosovo experience with the application international law at the national level in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
